LCD Soundsystem - All My Friends Lyric Booklet

Adobe Indesign My process started with several sketches, where I outlined the forms I wanted on the page. I knew I wanted a variety of sizes and fonts and for it to flow, sharply but also fluidly. The contrast was important, I wanted it to reflect the staccato of the beginning and the continued melody later in the song. I knew I wanted a major spread that showed what I thought was the most important part of the song, the line “I wouldn’t change one stupid decision for another five years of life” - the thesis, in my opinion. 

I played with text along several compounding curves, some sharp and some round, punctuated with lines that led the eyes through the page. I knew I wanted to incorporate the circle, since the album cover art and the artist themselves heavily feature a disco ball in all performances. I played with type along these circles too and used them as decoration on pages as well.  The font choices I used, namely Narly and Myriad Pro, were meant to add an old internet feel. The lines used are reminiscent of simple coding systems, especially those that were popular in 2007, when the song came out.
